Eating disorders are grave, and often deadly, diseases associated with extreme alterations in eating behaviors and the thoughts and emotions related to food and body image. The most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder. Other eating disorders include bigorexia, diabulimia, orthorexia, and night eating. Many who suffer from eating disorders, or their loved ones, feel helpless and scared.
Up to 30 million Americans of all ages and genders suffer from eating disorders. 50% of 9-year-old girls and 80% of 10-year-old girls have already been on a “diet”. 90% of young women in college have used diet to control their weight and 22% reported they dieted “often” or “always.” 25% of college-aged women use bingeing and purging as a weight management technique. 10% to 15% of people with anorexia and bulimia are male. And men tend not to seek treatment because they perceive eating disorders as a female disease.
We are mothers, fathers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, teachers, coaches and more. There is not one person whose life hasn’t been touched by eating disorders.

It was very informative and helpful. I learned a lot on my visit with Dr Nikita Kapur. She was very easy to talk to and I got some good suggestions. I left really thinking about how to work on my eating composition
We met Nikita kapur and she is outstanding. She was very knowledgable and gave a realistic advise on diet. In today's social world its important for the dietician to look at all outlooks and she explained us everything with so much details. Diet is about balanced eating and have been following her advice since we met her and already feel a difference! She is amazing !!!
Met with Erika and she was lovely. Very nice and easy to talk to. She offered up a test/solution based on my issues described and I left with a solid plan of action. Looking forward to working with her more and seeing if we can get to the bottom of my problems.
I have been going to Compass for some time now and Erika is just the best. She is very understanding and works with you to tailor my eating habits and does not look to take things away. She has helped me discover how to eat better with simple changes. I recommend her to anyone looking for a great nutritionist.
Erika helped me get unstuck off a weight plateau I've been stuck on for 10 years. It's amazing.
I had my first appointment with Dr Nikita Kapur today and she was wonderful. She communicated a ton of information, but broke things down in a way that was easy to understand and digest. I was recently diagnosed with SIBO (and have autoimmune diseases) and went to her to help with reintroduction of foods, but learned so much more. While I feel there is a long road ahead of me, I feel confident that with her guidance, I will get my gut health to a good place.
Nikita has been an instrumental guide in helping me navigate the recovery process after a SIBO diagnosis and working through the elimination/reintroduction diet. I know folks with IBS dealing with these elimination diets on their own and they all wish they could have access to a nutritionist throughout the process - I'm lucky to have been referred to Compass by my GI doc and lucky to have Nikita keeping me sane through the process.
Met with Nikita Kapur today and got some great advice on ways to improve diet and wellness game. Thank you, Nikita.
Many claim to be a nutritionist. But only a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) meets rigorous academic requirements with clinical training, holding a degree from an accredited university. Our RDNs stay informed of guidelines set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to provide our patients with expert nutrition counseling.
